We believe Education for Sustainability is an essential part of social responsibility

We appreciate this may be a new concept for lots of organisations so here is an outline of why it is important for you.

Do you want to add value to your community and/or the wider world?

You can provide resources to schools (on a local and/or national level) that support the delivery of the curriculum and the development of positive citizenship so learners have the skills, knowledge and motivation to address sustainability issues.

Why is Education for Sustainability important for your organisation?

The purpose of your social responsibility programme is to give something back.

We believe that helping to develop the skills essential for a better tomorrow by investing in Education for Sustainability should be at the top of the agenda for any organisation aiming to be a part of this positive change.

An Education for Sustainability programme delivers measurable results for your organisation. for example in terms of programme reach and the benefit to schools and their learners.

It will also raise your profile in a truly genuine way.  We promise schools that our resources will not be a sales pitch in disguise and that they will explicitly deliver the learning outcomes we set out to support.

Your programme will raise awareness of your organisation, deliver sincere social responsibility, support your organisation’s positioning and bring your organisation to life in the community.

Programmes can be scaled to meet your objectives, for example resources can be delivered to one school that you have specific links with, all schools in a specific area and to schools across different jurisdictions where your organisation operates.

In addition to developing your Education for Sustainability package, we can support the delivery with a marketing plan so that your investment is recognised.

Why are Education for Sustainability resources needed?

From our work with schools we have seen a real need for local and current examples that bring the curriculum to life.  And from our work with government, local authorities, private businesses and third sector organisations we know there are some fantastic things happening that could be used in this way.

Your resources can help schools deliver the curriculum using real life and relevant examples.  They will also help to develop positive citizenship so learners have the skills, knowledge and motivation to address sustainability issues.

You will also help schools to look outward at the world around them.  For example, your resources can:

  • Develop links between your organisation and schools and start conversations about career choices and skills development

  • Bring local/national/global strategy and policy to life, for example by showing how your organisation is supporting carbon neutral targets and how this supports local policy as well as the UN Sustainable Development Goals

  • Explain how your business delivers responsible and sustainable practice and why this is important

  • And the list goes on…

How can I get involved?

There are two ways for your organisation to get involved.

If you have a specific service/product/story that is adding value to the world around us, we can use this as the base for learning resources.

For example, if your organisation provides green technology or has invested in infrastructure to reduce your environmental impact, we can develop resources that deliver learning outcomes for specific curriculum subjects through your real life data and case studies.  The resources will also address the importance of what you are doing, for example by linking to local, national and global aims and showing how your organisation is making a difference.

The example of green technology can also be applied to resources that support wider schools aims, such as UNICEF’s Rights Respecting Schools Award and the Eco-Schools accreditation programme.

Your organisation can also sponsor the development of specific learning resources.    We work closely with schools to understand their requirements and have lots of ideas ready to discuss with you.

This option may compliment an issue that is close to the heart of your organisation, for example human rights, mental health and wellbeing, local heritage and personal empowerment all have direct links with sustainability.

Education for Sustainability programmes can be developed at any scale, for example resources can be delivered to one school that you have specific links with, all schools in a specific area and to schools across different jurisdictions where your organisation operates.
